Still life is an ongoing project where I make collages from found embroiderys. I mix the different motifs and make constallations that contrast and complement each other. Beings who normally never met can have interactions here. In some of the pictures the frame is the picture, or the motif spills over into the frame.

In this proces there are the coexisting elements of both exhilaration and tension when I start cutting in the embroidered fabric. Another woman has spent long hours making this, and I just cut it up. A collegue remarked : All those hours spent making these animals, houses and flowers. There must be so much energy contained here – make sure you guard it well. Amongst other things I have gotten the inspiration to these works from Vanitas, art noveau, Hokusai’s The great wave off Kanagawa, and artists like William Blake and Edward Atkinson.
